Instead of setting practical goals, I invite you to think about how you want to FEEL in 2021.
It may seem obvious but our emotions can be a brilliant guide to assessing how happy and fulfilled we are in life. If we feel good we’re heading in the right direction. If we feel bad and experience negative emotions on a regular basis (we’re overwhelmed, sad, depressed, angry, jealous etc.) then something needs to change.
The first step is to be aware of your emotions. The second step is to pay attention to them. So if you’re not feeling the way you want to feel, do something different.
My challenge to you is to pick 4 emotions you want to feel this year, and base all your decisions around these four emotions. For example, if your desired emotion is ‘confidence’ and you turn down an opportunity to give a talk at an event for fear of public speaking, will that make your feel confident? The answer is no. So re-think your decision, choose the confidence-based decision that will allow your to FEEL your desired emotion.
To give you an ideas, mine are: PLAYFULNESS, LOVE, GRATEFULNESS & ALLOWING
